Below are photographs taken at the Sir Kingsley Dunham Meeting organised by the Yorkshire Geol. Soc., 9th. March 2002 at Durham University.
Sir Kingsley Dunham died on the 5th. April 2001 aged 91. He joined the British Geological Survey in 1935. In 1950 he became head of the Department of Geology at Durham University, but returned to the B.G.S. in 1967 until he retired in 1975. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career, especially with regard to the minerals industry in Britain and abroad, becoming advisor to many mining companies.

Following an introduction to the meeting by the President of the Yorkshire Geol. Soc., Dr. David Millward, three talks were given.
Dr. Tony Johnson of Durham Univ., a life long friend of Sir Kingsley Dunham, spoke about some of the highlights of Sir Kingsley's long and successful career.
Brian Young of the BGS, who worked closely with Sir Kingsley on the second edition of the Geology of the Northern Pennine Orefield, Vol. 1: Tyne to Stainmore, gave a talk on mineralisation in Northern England.
Prof. Robert Nesbitt of Southampton Oceanography Centre, spoke about the enormous advances made during the last 40 years in the study and dating of igneous rocks.
Dr. Albert Wilson, a former YGS president who collaborated with Sir Kingsley on the Geology of the Northern Pennine Orefield, Vol. 2: Stainmore to Craven, gave some concluding remarks.
